When I tried to log on to family laptop, a message saying “there are not sufficient resources to load” my account with the default something-or-other came up. The message had a timer that was going to close the window, and then when it closed it would not log me on. I could not turn it on normally so I cut the power. When I turned it back on I logged on fine?
I read here PC Error but couldnt make sense?

[...] Well, there is a solution? Laurence, who was on IM with me the whole time and just as puzzled, sent me this link: Paragon Software’s US$40 NTFS for Mac OS X. There is a 10-day trial but it’s inevitable I will be getting this. [See also the options suggested in this gantico post. [...]

http://www.hornware.com/sharepoints/

The move from OS9 to X lost some abilities in file sharing. Sharepoints allows granular permissions accessible from any platform. Versions for every OS... 10.x.x allow individual folders AND external drives on the Mac to appear for the PC. You don't even need to turn on Windows file sharing in your Options on the Mac side. The only OS9 missing piece is applying the permissions to every folder within a folder... and please donate if you find it useful...

@Kaibriel
thanks for your feedback. Actually I'm working with Vista, because I was forced to have it when I ordered my latest PC. It's amazingly crappy for many things, but better then XP for few others. Anyway, I'm trying not to give up with it...

@Stef
hi man, good to see you here! I guess that your Itunes music folder is full of cool stuffs... It's a pity and a total nonsense any intentional incompatibility, like NTFS and HFS, different phones' batteries for different brands, etc...
(I confess that I kind of fed up with the snow... :-P)

Interesting... I'm bootcamping winXP
formatted in NTFS and am using MAcDrive 7...
works seamlessly... although I have to admit
that I only use it to share a common Itunes music folder...
Pity there's no open source for windows...
(nice snow :p)

Thanks for the tips. I'm a Windows XP user, not upgrading to Vista, and I need to tranfer video files between a Mac and XP.

From the sound of it, my best bet is an external FireWire drive formatted in HFS that is then readable using MacDrive or something similar.

I'd love to go to the Mac, but the cost of Final Cut Pro exceeds my entire hardware/software infrastructure cost developed building my own PC boxes. And Vista is for the birds.

Excellent resource. I use both systems but amazingly have not encountered this issue before; mostly because I do not keep or use music, photos or video on a Windows machine. That's what I use my Mac for. But now I am starting to interchange other files and backup data on different external drives which has led me down this rabbit hole. Thanks for the information.
