Postproduction for a portrait from Photoshow 2009

I was invited by Samsung for their stand at Photoshow 2009 fair. I’ve spent 4 days taking, developing and printing pictures, while showing Adobe’s software to people. For a few of those picts I’ll summarize some steps of the postproduction. Here: a portrait developed in Lightroom and finished in Photoshop.
1) The development in in Lightroom 2.3
On the left: the original shot taken with a Samsung GX20, without caring about the white balance. On the right: the shot after the development. The white background was a good reference for the White balance selector in Lightroom. After regulating the Basic adjustments and the Tone curve, I went to the Details, with a standard Noise Reduction and a medium Sharpening with a sensible use of Masking.

2) Local adjustments in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.3
I used an Adjustment Brush on the face, neck and arms with the preset Soften skin, slightly augmented in clarity (around -75). I painted with another brush for the eyes, with +45 of clarity, +55 in Brightness and a slightly saturated blue Color. For the lips I used a brush with negative Brightness and a Magenta tone.

3) Retouch in Adobe Photoshop CS4
I used Photoshop for a few additional corrections and for placing the logotype.

I used the Clone Stamp tool for adjusting the shape of the lips and removing the slight smudges of the lipstick. I used the filter Liquify for correcting a little imperfection on the line of the nose.
In order to make the background more interesting, I added a new layer where I used a radial gradient with colors sampled from the dress. For masking the model I started from a selection of luminosity on the blue channel. I finished the mask with curves and painting on it with black/white in overlay.

And this is the final image compared to the original shot.
